Dr. Andrew Drakeley

Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine

Dr. Andrew Drakeley is a consultant gynaecologist and an accredited subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is Clinical Director for Gynaecology and Fertility services of the Liverpool Women’s hospital. He is an honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for Edge Hill University and the clinical program lead for MCh and MSc advanced fertility practice. Dr Drakeley is a member of the RCOG subspecialty committee for reproductive medicine and is a committee Vice Chair. He is also a visiting Professor at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.

He was appointed as substantive consultant in 2005 at the Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. He has over 15 years of experience as an experienced gynaecological surgeon and in assisted reproduction (IVF). His research MD was in recurrent miscarriage management.

His interest is in gynaecology conditions with a focus on all aspects of reproductive medicine and related surgery, including laparoscopic procedures (keyhole) and male testicular sperm extraction.

He specialises in various aspects of assisted conception including IVF/ICSI, egg & sperm donation, fertility preservation, surrogacy, recurrent miscarriage.

He is the RCOG subspecialty training programme director for reproductive medicine for Liverpool.

He is involved in teaching and training with Liverpool & Edge Hill Universities for medical students, research MD postgraduates, advanced nurse practitioners and doctors. He is also appraiser of other Consultants.

He was born, bred and educated in Liverpool (The Blue Coat & Liverpool Medical School), with additional training in South Africa. As well as a clinical commitment, he is heavily involved in teaching, training and management.
